South America
The Amazonian Sea. In the south, the mouth of the Río de la Plata has expanded even further, while further north, much of the Amazon River basin has expanded into the Amazonian Sea. These two bodies of water create an even more distinct separation between the continent's lowlands and its mountainous spine.
Bionic Tribes. Through most of the world, the nanites remain a secret to most people. Only the Ordo Arcanum knows about the tiny robots unleashed at the end of civilization, which have multiplied until now they exist nearly everywhere. Their AI keeps reprogramming itself, evolving and adapting. The Arcanists struggle to stay ahead of it, to keep some measure of control over the tiny robots. But along the banks of the Amazonian Sea where Arcanists cannot survive, the nanites have flourished. The relics of human reasoning in their code have reached their end result there, as the nanites have formed their equivalent of multi-cellular organisms: gangly, eight foot tall, humanoid robots. With the seeds of their own programming springing from the assumptions of human reasoning, they, too, have formed into tribes.
